About our practice
A practice that feels like a home, at 333 Third Street in Laguna Beach.
Third Street Counseling is a therapy practice established in 2020 in Laguna Beach, California, co-founded by Michele Hall-Preston, LMFT, and David Lindquist, LMFT. We provide individual, couples, child and teen, and family therapy in person and by telehealth across California. Every new client starts with a free consult.
Third Street Counseling was established in 2020 and has grown into a close team of clinicians serving Laguna Beach and, through telehealth, families across California. The practice was co-founded by Michele Hall-Preston, LMFT, our director, together with David Lindquist, LMFT. What has never changed: therapy here starts with comfort, honesty about fit, and a door that is easy to walk through.

The Space
A space designed for real conversation.
Our Laguna Beach office is warm, private, and built for the kind of therapy that actually works.

Two rooms. One feeling.
Our counseling rooms are warm and private, with soft light and seating that invites a conversation, not a clinical evaluation. Paix and Luz, the therapy dogs, often greet you at the door.

Common Questions
Questions people ask before their first call.
Eight questions we hear most often, with honest answers.
How do I get started?
Reach out through the contact form or by phone. We will schedule a free consult, learn what is going on, and match you with the clinician who fits.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are typically 50 minutes, held in our Laguna Beach office or by telehealth across California. You can read more on our FAQ page.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. We offer in-person sessions at our Laguna Beach office and telehealth sessions across California. Both formats are available for individual and couples therapy.
Do you see children and teens?
Yes. We provide therapy for children, teens, and their families, and parents are part of the process from the first consult.
How do I pay?
We accept cash, checks, Zelle, PayPal, and credit cards. Our FAQ covers how out-of-network billing and superbills work, and our contact page is the place for anything it does not answer.
Will I really meet the dogs?
Very likely. Paix and Luz consider the waiting room their office. They are part of the practice and take their work seriously.
What if you are not the right fit?
We will tell you. The free consult exists so you can find the right therapist, whether that is here or somewhere else.
What approaches do your clinicians use?
Our clinicians draw on EMDR, Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and other evidence-informed approaches. We match you to the clinician whose training fits your needs.
